Editorial project "To Santiago for San Pedro"
El autor de este libro nos adentra en Santiago de Compostela a través de uno de los barrios del casco antiguo: el de San Pedro. Va recorriendo en un sosegado paseo sus calles zigzagueantes, en busca de las gentes y curiosidades que llenan de vida el lugar.
Como sucede con tantos barrios de la ciudad el Camino de Santiago, con su ir y venir peregrinando, tiene mucho que contarnos y Eugenio González nos lo narra con una prosa ágil y cargada de anécdotas.
Al pasar las páginas del libro iremos contemplando diferentes "huellas", en un completo recorrido fotográfico de la mano de Miguel Castaño. Fotógrafo con largos años de experiencia retratando la ciudad de Santiago y sus alrededores, entre otros tantos hitos dentro de su dilatada carrera.
Con estos ingredientes, texto y fotografías, me ocupé de diseñar un libro dinámico y actual.
Para la portada trabajé con dos planos, separados gracias a un sutil efecto de desenfoque, que se deslizan por todo el exterior del libro. El superior destaca los elementos principales y, el inferior, ilustra la idea central del libro con una fotografía de una de sus calles, llena de transeúntes y peregrinos.
En el interior, utilicé los planos de forma que las fotografías ocupan posiciones muy diversas, con textos legibles y diferentes destacados. De este modo, se mantiene el ritmo durante todo el libro, rompiendo cualquier tipo de monotonía que impida disfrutar el contenido.
The book's author introduces us to Santiago de Compostela through one of the neighbourhoods of the old town: The San Pedro district. Walking its zigzagging streets looking for the people and curiosities that make the place alive.
The Way of Saint James has a lot to teach us about this neighbourhood born of pilgrimages. And Eugenio González relates it to us with a quick prose full of anecdotes.
As we turn the pages of the book, we will be looking at different places. Through the complete photographic journey made by Miguel Castaño. A photographer with a long experience photographing the city of Santiago and its surroundings. Among other achievements of his long career.
With these ingredients, text and photography, I designed a dynamic and contemporary book.
For the cover, I worked with two planes that cover the entire outside of the book. Separating both planes with a subtle blurring effect. The upper plane highlights the main elements and the lower plane illustrates the central idea of the book. For this, I chose a photograph of one of the streets of the neighbourhood (full of people and pilgrims).
Inside, I placed the photographs in different positions, with legible texts and various highlights. In this way, the book keeps the visual rhythm, avoiding the monotony and maximizing the enjoyment of the content.
